We spent several hours of Christmas Eve with my side of the family- over at Mom and Dad’s house. The evening events included the one-pound gift exchange, a coloring contest (seems to be a new tradition?), finding the hidden pickle in the tree. Dinner was ham and turkey and a few other items, including some sort of Italian fungi & truffle spread and we all sampled Figgy Pudding for dessert. Why? Well because of this song:
And in case you didn’t fully understand the lyrics, here they are:
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
we wish you a merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Now bring us some figgy pudding
Oh bring us some figgy pudding
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding
And a cup of good cheer
Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas
And a Happy New Year
We won’t go until we get some
We won’t go until we get some
We won’t go until we get some
So bring some out here
Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas
And a Happy New Year
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Good tidings we bring
To you and your kin
Good tidings for Christmas
And a Happy New Year
So there you have it. Figgy Pudding. It tasted like the inside of a Fig Newton so it was actually pretty good!
