I walked into Brooke’s room last night to give her a goodnight hug and kiss….and as I approach her bed I hear her mutter in a loud whisper, “Idiot!”

I lean over her and ask her “Who’s an idiot?”

She sighs, “It’s just Tyler.”

I ask, “Why are you thinking about Tyler right now? Why is he an idiot?”

She replies, “I gave him a police man sticker today at school and he was supposed to trade me a blue and white pencil, like the red and orange pencil I showed you except his is blue and white, and he did, and then he took it out of my hand and kept it.”

“Oh. Well, tell him he owes you a pencil when you see him tomorrow!”

“Oh I will.  And he owes me a police sticker too!”

“OK, goodnight princess.  Don’t let Tyler bug you.  Go to sleep. I love you.”

(I just found it odd that she was reflecting on that at bedtime, and that she muttered “Idiot!” out loud in response to those thoughts!  This “Tyler” kid is the same kid that kissed Brooke multiple times in Kindergarten.  I have a bad feeling they are going to be dating some day.)  :)

Earlier that same afternoon….as we are walking to the truck after soccer practice (ahead of Riley so it’s just the 2 of us):

“Mom, when is my rainbow unicorn coming?”

Me: “Huh?”

Brooke: “My unicorn!  When is it coming?”

Me: “What are you talking about?”

Brooke: “I made a wish for one.  When does it happen?”

Me: “You made a wish?  When?”

Brooke: “A long time ago.”

(I’m really interested in this conversation- where does she get this stuff from??????)

Me:  “Was it like a birthday cake wish or a wish on a star or what?”

Brooke: “I made a wish on one of those round white thingines that you blow.”

Me: “Oh, a dandelion weed wishy thing!”

Brooke: “Yes, so when does the unicorn come?”

Me:  “Is it a unicorn with rainbow hair?”

Brooke:  “Yes.”

Me: “Um, I don’t know.”

(Yep, that was the best I could come up with!!)
