I realized I haven’t posted anything about Trevor’s football experience thus far.

I suppose there’s really not much to say at this point?  He practices Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays.  He has games on Tuesdays or Wednesdays (or sometimes other days) usually right after school and either in Hillsboro, Banks, Forest Grove or McMinnville.  It’s pretty cool because the kids take their gear to school, get out of their last class early and head to the locker room, change into uniform and then hop on a bus that takes them to the game field.  Parents meet the kids there for the 4:30 or 5:00 game…. just like it’s done in High School!

When Trevor initially started practicing they thought he’d be a Receiver.  He was quickly moved to the Defensive Back position where he stayed for a few weeks.

Here’s a few shots of the kid in position (Black #30):

He finally made his first tackle at last week’s game against Forest Grove (9/21) and I just happened to get the sequence in photos!

He’s still uncomfortable in his pads and not staying in the Receivers pocket- and after a few plays of not stopping the ball like he should, his coaches called him out.

His friends and teammates would give him pointers and advice on the sidelines:

On Monday they decided to move him to a new position.  He is now a linebacker.  Yep, all 78 pounds of him.  Whereas the average 7th grader is 5’2″ and 110 pounds, our little T is a mere 4’10” and 78 pounds.  Keep in mind I said average- cuz a lot of the boys on his team are taller than me!

So yesterday he gets the new position- the kids are all helping him out and giving him pointers at practice yesterday- the coaches are working with him….and Tuesday (TODAY) is his first game as a Linebacker.

I’ll let you know how that goes!
