Riley’s Birthday Party will probably be spread out over a few different posts. One for the decorations….one for the girls crafts….and one to showcase the party itself (so I can complain about only getting 5 hours of sleep).
So here’s the DECOR post!
Before you get to see the table displays and room decor as a whole- here’s some sneak peeks at some of the things I made for Riley’s party.
I used my Cricut Gypsy to design cupcake wrappers, cut them out with my Cricut Expression, then embossed them with a Sizzix machine using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. Why go to all the trouble? My Demarle pan can’t use regular cupcake liners, they make muffins and cupcakes a little bigger than ‘normal’ so I needed a way to wrap the cupcakes after baking them. Unable to find something in the stores, I made my own!

And finally I replaced our Fall pictures (Everyday Display frames) with Riley-centric pictures!
Here’s how it all came together:

Jim pointed out to me that I made 100% of the decorations for this party, which I hadn’t even realized. It all started when I saw The Party Dress website, and then when Riley chose pink, black and silver as her party colors and I saw the ornate black and white wrapping paper- the ‘theme’ just sort of took off!
I had a lot of fun making these decorations- and really all of it was pretty simple. And fun! A great ‘crafty’ week for me- loved it! I couldn’t have made the scalloped discs without my Cricut though. The banner was all Cricut as well.
Now what will I do with it all? =o)
The next post will show the jewelry making and cupcake decorating activities….sit tight because I have a lot of pictures to weed through. I promise to have the post on time- Monday morning at 6am!
What decorations you had, the girls must have just loved it. You are so talented and I am sure Riley loved it. I am glad you post often. Keep it up.
Riley loved the decorations, in fact she even helped with some of it. All three kids helped assemble the scallop circles we hung throughout the house. After Riley’s party I moved the pom poms into the girls’ room- jazzing their room up a bit. I didn’t want to just throw them away.
Wow, everything is so beautiful and stylish! You are a natural. I hope the effort was worth it. YOU had some fun, right! Read the girls were a tad too much?!
Is it snowing on your site? I saw specs of white stuff dropping down on the page, am I just seeing things? What a cool effect ….it was, right?
Britta
Thanks Britta- yes “I” had lots of fun making these things. I’m actually thinking about making some Christmas circles to hang up around the house. We’re going to make white pom poms to hang from the playroom ceiling, too.
And yes, it’s snowing on my blog. WordPress does it every year and I like that they do that for us!
