My goal is to exercise at least three times a week. I despise “working out”. I don’t like getting sweaty. I don’t like running. I’ve been wearing my Skechers Shape-Ups and walking on the treadmill at a normal walking pace (3.0-3.4 mph) but I take long lungeing steps, swing my arms, vary the incline from 0 to 10 and places in between. I figure I get more out of this type of walk than a regular walk. It still gets my heart rate up and I still get sweaty, so it has to be working, right?
My problem is if I don’t get on the treadmill first thing in the morning, the chance of me getting on it later in the day is basically zero. I get up at 5:15am and use this as my time to watch the news. I can’t watch it during the daytime, and by the time I go to bed I’m so exhausted I can’t stay awake for the news!
I guess you just need to find whatever motivates you, right? I suppose the ultimate motivation is being healthier, getting thinner. But even that isn’t enough to get me out of bed.
On the days I don’t do the treadmill, I do a pilates workout. It’s a short 20-minute video with slow controlled movement, so no sweating and I can do it any time of day. So that’s usually twice a week. I should do it more, I know.
I wear my Shape-Ups all day long…usually 3-4 days a week. I think they are helping….I feel like my glutes are getting firmer, my legs stronger. My pants are fitting better and I’m down 4 pounds from where I was all winter long.
I’ll keep you posted.
