Ever find yourself about 20 minutes until dinner time and you have no idea what you are going to make? You think spaghetti sounds good, but your ground beef is frozen solid- and you don’t want to take the time to thaw and brown it? Here’s one of my favorite time-saver tips:
The next time you need to brown a pound of ground beef, go ahead and brown TWO pounds of ground beef. Don’t add any special flavoring- maybe just a little salt and pepper. Set aside the extra pound to cool and then put it in a microwaveable freezer container. The next time you are running short on time, you can pull out the previously cooked ground beef- thaw it in the microwave- toss in the flavorings you need (Mexican, Italian, etc.), and dinner will be ready in 1/2 the time!
It has been a tremendous time saver for us….and something my father-in-law taught me just this past summer!
